Body Count , a hip-hop and metal band led by multi-artist Ice-T , released the music video for "F*** What You Heard" last Thursday, the 1st. Along with "Psychopath," this is the second track released by the group as they prepare for the release of their next studio album, Merciless .

The band maintained their characteristic aggressive and direct style, with visual work full of political criticism and references to the United States electoral landscape. "The whole idea of a two-party system is bullshit," Ice-T declared as a news headline appeared on the screen reading "Senate votes to take away your rights.".

Written by rapper and producer Will Putney , the song judges the dispute between the Democratic and Republican parties as a turf war typical of gangs. The "Democrips" and "Bloodpublicans," as Ice-T refers to them, are treated as two sides of the same coin, making a direct analogy to the Crips and Bloods, rival gangs in Los Angeles identified by the colors blue and red—the same colors as the political parties.

Throughout the video, several references to colors can be seen, alluding to the country's political and social conflicts and also serving as a critique of the work of Fox News and CNN, mentioned by Ice-T in the lyrics, recognized by blue and red, respectively.

The video was directed by Jay Rodriguez , who also directed the music video for "Psychopath," a single released a few weeks ago and which will also be on the upcoming album. Check it out:

Body Count's eighth studio album is scheduled for release later this year, but without a specific date. The band members promise surprises and an even better album than Carnivore , released in 2020, which earned the band a Grammy for Best Metal Performance with the song "Bum-Rush".

In an interview with the French outlet Loud TV , guitarist Ernie “C” Cunningham commented that the album features many guest artists and that one of them is “very unexpected.” “We have a surprise guest who will leave everyone speechless,” he said.

While you wait for the album, you can enjoy the singles "F*** What You Heard" and "Psychopath," which are already available on streaming platforms
