Alexi Laiho 's latest recordings have finally reached the public with the release of the EP Paint The Skye With Blood , the first – and possibly last – from the band Bodom After Midnight .
Formed after the breakup of Children of Bodom in 2020, the band aimed to be a continuation of the previous project. In addition to Laiho and Daniel Freyberg , both from the final lineup of CoB, the band features drummer Waltteri Vayrynen and bassist Mitja Toivonen .
The group performed some live shows and had grand plans, but the journey was cut short by Laiho's untimely death at age 41 on December 29, 2020. The musician's final EP features three tracks: his own compositions "Paint the Sky with Blood" and "Payback's a Bitch," and a Dissection .
“These three tracks are the only ones we rehearsed, let alone recorded. There's nothing else left. But I'm very happy, it really shows Alexi at his best,” guitarist Freyberg said in a recent interview .
