"I am very proud"

Producer Bob Rock recounted in an interview what it was like working with Metallica and producing one of the greatest and best albums in music.

After 30 years producing great albums and working with big names in rock, Bob says he's never produced anything like the Black Album.

“It was the greatest album I ever produced. It changed the style of music that radio stations wanted to play. I’m very proud of that. I continue to be impressed by artists I’ve worked with since then, like Michael Bublé and Van Morrison. But I have to say that the Black Album was where everything changed.”

Bob Rock also comments on the criticism he received before he stopped working with the band.

“The criticism hurt my children, who read it and didn’t understand what was happening. (…) Sometimes even with a good coach, the team loses. You need a fresh perspective.”

"Rock" refers to the petition signed by over a thousand people asking Metallica to stop working with the producer, as they felt he was interfering with the band's sound.
