Producer Bob Rock has sold his share of the rights to a catalog of 43 Metallica , including the group's self-titled album.

Bob Rock joins Bob Dylan and Neil Young on the list of industry-established artists selling recording catalogs at a time when the explosion of digital streaming services is attracting investors. With the pandemic, many investors have turned to the music industry to add songs to their portfolios.

The producer produced the Black Album , which features classics such as "Nothing Else Matters" and "The Unforgiven." Songs from this album have garnered over 7 billion streams, according to the investment firm Hipgnosis . The value of the deal was not disclosed.

In addition to the Black Album, Bob Rock also sold the rights to some tracks from the albums Call Me Irresponsible, Crazy Love, Christmas , and To Be Loved by singer Michael Bublé.
