Blues Pills have announced their newest album, Birthday , and released the title track. The album will be released on August 2nd.

Speaking about the single, the group explained in a press release the inspiration behind it: “The title track tells the story of an incident that occurred during a tour in Mexico on Elin [ Larsson , vocalist] birthday. She invited the entire band and crew to celebrate her birthday, and things went sour when a waiter decided to ruin her celebration.”

Elin shared a bit about what happened: “I don’t know what the hell this guy was thinking or doing, but he took liberties and crossed personal boundaries by acting very disrespectfully.”

When the band got home, according to the statement, they wrote the new single “Birthday.” “It has a bit of humor,” says Elin. “The first verse of the song is written from the aggressor’s perspective, but this isn’t a song to feel like a victim, it’s a shitty song with a fuck-you attitude.”

Regarding the album, the group commented: “With this album we really let ourselves be free, leaving behind all boundaries and expectations to write songs that we love. We wanted to capture the raw and authentic feeling of when we play live on an album, but striving to create and write the best work we've ever done. Elin was pregnant during the recordings, and what's more rock'n'roll than that? To create human life and music.”
