The return of blink-182 to the stage has been acclaimed by pop-punk fans worldwide. Everyone wants a piece of the action, but last Friday, the 22nd, the band gave the Brazilian audience a real treat at Lollapalooza 2024.
From the moment they stepped onto the stage, Mark Hoppus , Travis Barker , and Tom DeLonge ignited the audience with youthful dialogue, unparalleled stage presence, and plenty of jokes about… mothers?
No stage could contain these three. Blink not only delivered the best possible setlist, but the entire atmosphere of the 2000s to the Budweiser stage. The band completely redeemed themselves with fans after canceling their show last year, with a performance that will go down in the history of the São Paulo festival.
Speaking of which, the setlist packed with hits left no room for pauses, with classics like “All the Small Things”, “Feelin’ This”, “I Miss You”, “Always” (the power of so many people singing these two in unison is almost – if not completely – religious – if the lyrics weren’t so opposite to that), “Dammit” with a mashup of “Scrubs”, in addition to the new anthems “More Than You Know” and “One More Time”, the song that ended the night setting the audience on fire.
Blink-182 continues to evolve and maintain its relevance in the pop-punk genre, winning over both longtime fans and a new generation of admirers who attend Lollapalooza.
From Mark and Tom sharing jokes and stories between songs to Travis Barker playing drums with a towel over his face, it's impossible to end the day without becoming a fan of blink-182's energy and pulsating rhythms.
A perfect end to the festival day, which, even under a new, flawed, and negligent production that somehow controls the biggest music festivals in the country these days, triumphed thanks to the bands and artists – and especially the audience's love for music.
Perhaps it's important to remember that festivals are made of this: music and synergy between the audience and the artist.
