In a recent interview with eonmusic , Blaze Bayley Iron Maiden 's new music . Bayley replaced Bruce Dickinson as Maiden's vocalist during the albums The X Factor (1995) and Virtual XI (1998) and has now praised the frontman for his work on the new album, Senjutsu .

“I like [the new songs]. Bruce is sounding absolutely fantastic. He always sounds good, but he’s sounding really strong [on the single 'The Writing On The Wall'], which is great to hear. When he gains confidence in his voice, it becomes very meaningful and it’s something very special,” reflects Bayley.

Blaze also spoke about moments when he didn't feel that same spark in Dickinson's work. “I think maybe on No Prayer For The Dying and in some parts of Fear of the Dark there are areas and certain songs where he didn't have that confidence and that joy. He's still the most incredible singer in the world for rock and metal, but I think on those albums he didn't have the same contentment [that you hear] on the more recent albums, and listening to this single you think: 'that's Bruce excited, I can't wait to see him!'” he recounts.

Recently, Bruce Dickinson listed some Iron Maiden rarities he'd like to perform on tour, such as "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner," "The Prisoner," and "Stranger In A Strange Land."
