Vocalist Blaze Bayley, who was a member of Iron Maiden between 1994 and 1999, has been added to the official list of band members nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is the third time Iron Maiden has been nominated.

When the finalists were revealed on February 25th, the lead singer was left out of the official list of members. This caused surprise, since Bayley recorded two albums – The X Factor (1995) and Virtual XI (1998) – with the group and had the arduous task of replacing Bruce Dickinson after his departure in 1993.

In recent days, fans noticed an update on the institution's official website and found that the musician's name has been included in the list of members to be honored, should the band finally be selected to be part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame [via Blabbermouth].

Iron Maiden and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

To give you an idea, Iron Maiden has been eligible to be part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2005, the year the band's debut album celebrated its 25th anniversary. However, the institution has never recognized the group due to its history of problems with heavy metal and its subgenres

The closest they came to being inducted were in 2021 and 2023. The first attempt included Foo Fighters, The Go-Go's, Jay-Z, Carole King, Todd Rundgren, and Tina Turner. The most recent attempt included Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, The Spinners, and Rage Against the Machine. Despite this, the band has never shown any interest in joining the institution.
