Blaze Bayleyvocalist Iron Maiden, spoke about how he felt about the Iron Maiden finally being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Last Monday, the 13th, the institution announced the complete list of artists to be honored for the year 2026. In addition to the group, the following names are included: Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan.

In an interview with Metal Hammer, Blaze expressed his gratitude and stated that he was "very lucky" because, according to him, the organization doesn't only include rock artists, as it's the "hall of fame" for the entire music industry. For him, being part of this select group is "sensational."

“It’s crazy, really! When I started, I wanted to be like Ronnie James Dio, and Dio is in the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame, and so am I. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is totally another level, it’s not really ‘rock’n’roll’ as we think, it’s the music industry hall of fame, because it has everyone. So it’s absolutely sensational!”, he said [transcription via Loudersound].

He continued: “I received many messages congratulating me. It’s something really big for a lot of people. For me, I feel so lucky to be considered on the same level as some of the other artists who are there. Multi-platinum artists! It’s a real privilege to be nominated.”

Iron Maiden reacts to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination

In an official statement on social media, businessman Rod Smallwood expressed his gratitude for the recognition and also mentioned former members who were part of the team's journey. Read the statement below.

“We would like to thank the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for including us (and the former members who have been part of our history) in the 2026 inductee list. Iron Maiden has always prioritized our relationship with our fans above all else, including industry awards and recognition. However, that being said, it’s always nice to be recognized and honored for any achievements within the music industry!

It also seems fitting that the band is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year as we continue our 50th anniversary celebrations with the Run For Your Lives, which will take us across the Americas and other continents. We would also like to congratulate our fellow 2026 inductees and extend our gratitude, as always, to our fans for their loyalty, perseverance and support over more than 50 years! See you somewhere on the tour.”

The institution will introduce the current lineup — consisting of vocalist Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain , and guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray , and Janick Gers — as well as former guitarist Dennis Stratton, former vocalist Blaze Bayley, and the late Paul Di'Anno (former vocalist) and Clive Burr (former drummer).
