Blackie Lawless, frontman of WASP , stated that he is not prioritizing new music, but will publish his autobiography soon.

In an interview with Eonmusic , the vocalist, guitarist, and only original member of WASP , spoke about recent events: “Well, we were working on some things a few years ago, during COVID, and then we did a European tour two years ago, and everything happened and I broke my spine.”

"It was one catastrophe after another, so the idea of recording at that time was put aside, and we've been touring ever since. So, yes, there are ideas circulating, but, you know, when you might suspect you'd see it, I really couldn't say."

So, Lawless updated his autobiography, which is in progress: “I’m also working on a book, so I’ve been kind of busy. It’s almost halfway done, and I hope to release it sometime next year.”

The Autobiography of Blackie Lawless

Blackie Lawless' autobiography has been in the works for a long time. In October 2022, he told Rockin' Metal Revival about the writing process of his autobiography [transcription via Blabbermouth ]: “When I sat down to start writing the book, everything just flowed out of me. And that was also an interesting process, because, since I had never done it before, you always think… The first thing that comes to anyone's mind are the things that stand out.”

“But what I discovered, more than anything, is that it was a process of self-discovery, because if you look at any significant event that might happen in your life—we all have those; those signs that point us in one direction or another—it’s one thing to write about it, but to get to the root of it, what you need to do is go back and do some real self-analysis and say, ‘Okay, what led me to this? And then what led me to that?’ And so on.”

The vocalist concluded: “When writing, whether it’s lyrics or something like that, you try to write them in the most multidimensional way possible, because the listener, when hearing something today, wants to be able to look at the same lyrics five years from now and see something totally different, because who they are five years from now is not who they are now.”

Album ONE Alive! tour , celebrating the 40th anniversary of their debut album. The show took place last May at the first edition of Bangers Open Air in São Paulo.
