Blackie Lawless , frontman of WASP , is "inclined" to return to performing "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)" at the band's shows, despite having recently converted to Christianity.
According to data from Setlist.fm , the band hasn't performed the track in 16 years, with the last performance dating back to 2006. Interestingly, years after the song was included on the Parents' Music Resource Center's "Filthy 15" banned list Parental Advisory warning label on songs with violent or sexual content, the decision was motivated by the musician's conversion to Christianity in the last decade, leading Lawless to agree that he didn't want to encourage children to sing the song's obscene content and due to "religious conviction."
With the 40th anniversary tour announced with dates in Europe starting in March of this year, Blackie Lawless may reverse his decision for the sake of the fans, as "Animal" remains among the group's most popular songs.
“I don’t know [if we’re going to play]. There’s a part of me that thinks the music is already out in the world. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle. Do I owe it to the fanbase to make this tour a true retrospective of what we’ve done? If I had to answer that now, I’d say I’m inclined to [play again],” he said in an interview with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM (via Blabbermouth ).
