Blackberry Smoke is back with You Hear Georgia , released this Friday, the 28th. Celebrating 20 years of his career, the album is a love letter to the southern United States and a celebration of his roots.
The successor to Find a Light (2018), the new album is produced by Dave Cobb , also a native of the state of Georgia, and features Jamey Johnson, Warren Haynes and The Black Bettys .
The project's concept revolves around the band's understanding that the Southern United States is often judged negatively. "Obviously, it's a tumultuous and complicated world, there are a lot of bad people there. But there are good people too," said vocalist Charlie Starr . "It all started with the idea of how people can have a preconceived opinion of you because of a strong Southern accent, then it expanded to the reality of how some people seem to have so much difficulty relating to each other, thanks to political or religious viewpoints, or simply which part of the country you come from."
