The American band Blackberry Smoke released their newest album, Be Right Here , this Friday, the 16th.
The first track on the album that vocalist/guitarist Charlie Starr composed was “Dig A Hole”: “In life, we all face choices,” says Starr. “Are we going to do good or are we going to do evil? Are we going to love or are we going to hate? We each have a finite amount of time on this Earth. So, we probably want to make the most of it instead of wasting time.”
As stated in a press release, the band drew inspiration from "Southern rock, classic rock with a bluesy feel, and vintage country with roots."
For Be Right Here , they adopted a similar strategy to when they made You Hear Georgia (2021). The album was written during the pandemic, but only released when the band was able to return to the stage. The most recent one was recorded between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023: “We didn’t feel much pressure to record this album quickly,” shares Starr.
Blackberry Smoke worked with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb . The recording took place live, with all the musicians in the same location, and most of it was recorded at RCA Studio A.
The group consists of Starr, Brandon Still on keyboards, Paul Jackson on guitar and vocals, Richard Turner on bass and vocals, and Brit Turner on drums.
