When this fatal flaw causes the destruction of the world, a "dark avenger" is born from his agonizing shame. The scientist is then reborn as a mysterious figure called Blackbird , seeking redemption and finding himself trapped between life and death.
The story was conceived by vocalist Andy Biersack and written by Michael Moreci ( Stranger Things, Batman: Detective Comics ), with illustrations by Augustin Padilla ( Dungeons & Dragons ) and cover art by Ryan Christensen .
