Black Sun releases powerful new single “Slay the Queen”

The band also announced its new lineup, with two new members

Black Sun is back with their Ecuadorian-Finnish melodic heavy metal. The track, titled “Slay the Queen,” features the band's new lineup and highlights their characteristic blend of powerful guitars and captivating vocals from Netta Laurenne .

The current lineup includes founding members Nicolas Estrada on drums, Christopher Grünberg on guitar, and Santiago Salem on bass. It also features new member, producer and guitarist Nino Laurenne . Nino, known for his work with bands such as Amorphis , Lost Society , and The Rasmus , joined the group during the production of the album Silent Enemy , released in February 2024.

Netta Laurenne, known for her work with Smackbound , has also joined Black Sun as lead vocalist. “Black Sun is a band born from and based on friendship, about spending time together and playing music. It’s amazing,” commented the singer.

“The songwriting approach was completely renewed when Nino and Netta joined the band. We were able to explore a more complex and heavier rhythmic approach. Having Netta on vocals allows us to explore a wider range and navigate different waters. We are super excited for people to hear our new sound,” Santiago, Nicolas, and Christopher stated together.

New single features a mesmerizing video

The official music video is a visual spectacle in itself, directed by Gustavo Arguello . The images look like they're from a fantastic horror film; it's beautiful and grotesque at the same time. Combining top-quality heavy metal as a soundtrack, it's simply mesmerizing.

As a result, Ecuador and Finland are now united and represented by a single band.
