Tony Iommi Black Sabbath albums featuring Tony Martin will be re-released in 2023.

The news was announced via a Twitter post, which can be found at the end of this article, commemorating drummer Cozy Powell , who died in 1998. "Cozy Powell would have turned 75 today. Looking forward to the release of the IRS in 2023, a tribute to his great playing," he wrote.

Even though he wasn't very up-to-date on Black Sabbath's happenings, Martin had anticipated the news in November during an interview with The Metal Voice : "They're re-releasing these albums, honestly I have no idea what's going on with that. I know it's going to be in 2023, but that's really all I know," said the former vocalist (transcription via NME ).

The four Black Sabbath albums with Tony Martin that were released by IRS are Headless Cross (1989), Tyr (1990), Cross Purposes (1994), and Forbidden (1995).

The heavy metal band went through several lineup changes during the 1980s and 1990s. Tony Martin was the vocalist between 1987 and 1991. After being replaced for two years by Ronnie James Dio , he returned to the group and remained until 1997.

Recently, Iommi and bandmate Ozzy Osbourne reunited to play together at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games . Bassist Geezer Butler , who was diagnosed with pneumonia last week, was also absent due to health reasons.
