Black Sabbath was formed in 1968 in Birmingham
Toni Iommi , guitarist for Black Sabbath , told Birmingham Live about the possibility of the band reuniting for the opening of the Commonwealth Games: “I think it would be a great thing to do, to help represent Birmingham. I’m ready for it. Let’s see what happens!”
The statement came after Ozzy Osbourne said he would like to reunite the band to headline the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. “Yes, that would be fantastic. With the band or alone. I’d love to do it. We’re all Brummies after all.”
The band ceased operations in 2017.
