Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi in front of newspaper cuttings and posters from the band's early days at the opening night of the Home Of Metal exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. The show charts the birth and rise of Heavy Metal music in Birmingham. Informed by original band artefacts and materials from the Home of Metal digital archive, this exhibition brings together iconic items such as Black Sabbath's Mob Rules stage cross, Judas Priest costumes and handwritten Napalm Death lyrics and places them alongside unseen memorabilia sourced directly from the fans. The show will also explore the ingredients that together made Heavy Metal, offering an insight into the region's industrial history, the early blues-rock sound, the changing music industry, DIY politics as well as Heavy Metal's global impact.

Black Sabbath Cultural Contest: Pair of tickets to Home of Metal

Congratulations to Ana Lúcia Do Nascimento who won the pair of tickets to Home of Metal! See her winning answer:

What does Black Sabbath mean to you?

“The change in my life, the discovery of a new world, means everything to me, an inexplicable passion!!! From the first time I heard the Black Sabbath riff, I felt a wonderful energy, an inexplicable shiver, that incredible feeling, what sound is this, and the best part is, I still feel it today…”

On September 28th, following the screening of the Black Sabbath film in Brazil, Home Of Metal will host a special event in São Paulo to honor the band. The organization is documenting the band's history and relevance and will hold a party at Manifesto Bar for taking photos with Black Sabbath fans. All captured material will become part of Home of Metal's digital archive, and some will be exhibited at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.

The Black Sabbath celebration will also feature exclusive video screenings, a raffle for band prizes, and performances by tribute bands Voodoo and Electric Funeral. Read more and confirm your attendance at the event on Facebook .
