The hardcore band Black Pantera reinforces its continued participation in the Black movement with the audiovisual EP Capítulo Negro , which arrived last Friday, the 20th, Black Consciousness Day.
The album features three songs with powerful messages about empowerment that have marked the lives of the band members, which have been given new versions signed by them, reinforced by the intense short film directed by Leonardo Ramalho .
“Identidade”, by Jorge Aragão, was part of drummer Rodrigo Pancho's adolescence, as he recounts, “I started playing percussion at age 14, and Jorge Aragão was a great reference at the time. When the opportunity arose to do this project, I made sure to include that song.”
O Rappa 's debut album , "Todo Camburão tem um Pouco de Navio Negreiro" (Every Police Van Has a Little Bit of Slave Ship), stands out for the power of its lyrics, as bassist Chaene da Gama explains, "Despite being a song from 1994, it's timeless and relevant to the present day, becoming even more urgent with the increase in racial violence perpetrated by the police, the state, and society as a whole. It's a milestone in our career to do a reinterpretation of a song like this."
And lastly, but definitely not least, “A Carne”, known in the voice of Elza Soares , “A few years ago we were invited to play at a festival on Black Consciousness Day and they asked us to choose a song that represented the date,” says vocalist Charles Gama . “We chose this one, very emblematic, adapted it to our style and ended up including it in the shows.”
