Black Label Society , the band led by guitarist Zakk Wylde , has released their newest single, "Lord Humungus".
Black Label Society's new song is a tribute to Lord Humungus , a character from the film Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior . The lyrics explore the dystopian and post-apocalyptic world in which Lord Humungus is situated.
The track is a sonic hammer with heavy, rhythmic riffs and a solo that Zakk Wylde and Dario Lorina (rhythm guitarist) alternate between, transitioning between measures of technique and others of pure shredding.
Directed by Justin H. Reich , the official music video for "Lord Humungus" has been released on YouTube. The video uses comedic elements, such as the band members wearing outrageous Lord Humungus costumes and funny scenes, bringing a hilarious tone to the video and the viewer.
“Lord Humungus” follows the single “The Gallows”, which was released in 2024.

In an interview on Lipps Service With Scott Lipps in October 2024, Wylde went into detail about the songwriting process and recordings for the upcoming Black Label Society album ( via Blabbermouth ):
“We’re recording a lot of stuff while we’re at home. Obviously, there’s going to be a lot coming next year. We’re going to do the Pantera in 2025, and there will be Zakk Sabbath as well. So I’d imagine that maybe in late 2025, early 2026, we should release another Black Label album.”
“I think if you ask any musician, they’ll tell you that when you’re in the studio, it’s fertile ground for inspiration because everything sounds good… Whether you’re sitting with an acoustic guitar, or you’re sitting behind a piano, or you have those big distorted guitars, the drums sound like cannons. So everything sounds amazing. And it’s very inspiring.”
