The highly anticipated meeting between Billy Idol and Supla , which has been awaited since 1991, may finally happen this week.
Thirty-one years ago, Brazilians longed for a meeting between the two punk stars because of their similar aesthetic – platinum blonde, spiky hair. At the time, Billy Idol was making his first – and so far only – visit to Brazil, also to play at Rock In Rio, but the union of the two legends never happened.
Now, on his second visit to the country for another edition of Rock In Rio, the big name of the 80s was asked if he had ever heard of Supla during an interview with g1 . According to the website, Idol replied: “I’ve never heard of him, but now I’ll have to look him up, since you’re mentioning him. It would be great to meet him.”
Later, the g1 team reported meeting Supla on the plane on their way to Rock In Rio and asking about the possibility of the long-awaited meeting. According to the Brazilian rocker, T4F , the producer of Billy Idol's show in São Paulo, is arranging a meeting between the two backstage at the show in the São Paulo capital, which takes place this Thursday, September 8th.
Billy Idol will perform at Rock In Rio this Friday, the 9th, alongside names like Green Day , Fall Out Boy , and Avril Lavigne .
