Before his show at Rock In Rio this Friday, September 9th, Billy Idol performed in São Paulo and even had time to meet a distinguished guest backstage: Supla .

The meeting between these two punk icons has been eagerly awaited since 1991, when Idol made his first – and until 2022, only – visit to Brazil, also to perform at Rock In Rio.

Back then, the aesthetic resemblance between Billy Idol and Supla already sparked comments and a desire for a meeting between the two artists. After Idol said in an interview with g1 that he had "never heard of" Supla, but would love to meet him, the dream finally came true.

Supla posted a photo of the meeting on his Instagram with the caption "We finally met!". In an interview with g1 after the big moment, he revealed that the two talked about mutual friends and mentioned Bernard Rhodes , who was the one who boosted Billy Idol's career and also the one who named the band Supla has with his brother Brother of Brazil

“We told him he needed to do a furious bossa nova, a punk nova,” he added. “Like Elvis Presley did Mexican and Hawaiian music, I said he needed to do a bossa nova. Who knows. Imagine Billy Idol singing a Tom Jobim with Brothers of Brazil or even Supla,” he said, laughing, according to g1 .
