Last Friday, September 9th, Billy Idol performed at Rock In Rio 2022 , and his performance was marred by a series of technical glitches.
Some songs had to be interrupted and restarted, and the singer visibly had difficulty singing others, as was the case with "Eyes Without A Face".
On Twitter , one user pointed out that the problem with the song in question was probably the key of the music and not problems remembering the lyrics. "That's why the argument with Steve Stevens on stage," they commented.
Shortly after, Steve Stevens himself used his Twitter profile to reply to the tweet and clarify what happened:
“There was no 'fight' whatsoever. You are completely wrong. We had major technical problems and none of us could hear each other. We were 100% dependent on our in-ear monitors and they weren't working. All our other shows in South America were incredible.”
In a video published on G1 , it's possible to see a bit of the awkward silence during the performance of "Eyes Without A Face":
Billy Idol and the meeting with Supla
After 30 years since the first attempt, Billy Idol's visit to Brazil finally provided the long-awaited meeting between the British singer and our own Supla .
The two met backstage at an Idol show in São Paulo, and Supla claims to have suggested a collaboration between them in a bossa nova punk style, or "punkanova," as he called it.
The staff from Estúdio Gaveta were also present on pop punk day at Rock In Rio representing Wikimetal and shared more details about the night that featured Billy Idol in the lineup. Read the full review.
