Billy Idol discovered he was the father of a child he didn't know was his in 2023. The details were revealed in the documentary Billy Idol Should Be Dead , which was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival .
Bonnie , Billy's daughter, wanted to know more about her family tree and it was through a DNA test that she discovered Brant , a son the artist didn't know he had.
According to the documentary, as reported by People , Bonnie's husband had given her a DNA test as a gift. After taking it, a few weeks later, when the results arrived via an app, she questioned: “Who is this? This Brant. And it says his information, like, New York, looking for my biological father, I was like 'What?'”
Brant and his suspicion of having another biological father
Brant admits that he grew up believing another man was his biological father. When his supposed father took a DNA test, and it was revealed that he was not in fact Brant's father, Brant asked his mother, "Mom, is there any chance Mark isn't my biological father?" After being questioned, his mother said, "That's crazy," but that she had separated from her husband at the time. It was during the week she was involved with Billy that the pregnancy occurred.
Idol says in the documentary that he always wanted to be the father of a boy and a girl and that he managed to "make it work." The artist added: "And actually, I had a child that I didn't know about, that I conceived during the Rebel Yell without knowing. So, somehow, I made it work for that too."
The documentary tells the story of Billy Idol's life, his rise to fame, and how he became an MTV . It also documents his heroin addiction and his near-fatal motorcycle accident.
