Billy Corgan , lead singer of the alternative rock band Smashing Pumpkins , has announced a solo project solely to pay tribute to his own music.

Taking advantage of the anniversary dates of three of the band's albums, including the classic Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness , which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and brought timeless hits like "Bullet With Butterfly Wings ," "Tonight Tonight, " and "Zero " to the world, Corgan decided to create a conceptual and meta-linguistic celebration with the project titled Billy Corgan and the Machines of God , with shows already scheduled across the United States starting in June.

To celebrate the legacy of the Smashing Pumpkins, Kiki Wong , who already played guitar on tours with the band, will participate in the shows, as will Kid Tigrr on bass and Jake Hayden on drums.

There is still no further information about the frontman's unusual decision, whether it was an aesthetic choice, a matter of artistic freedom, or even if the other members of Smashing Pumpkins didn't want to do a commemorative tour at the moment.
