Snider recounts how the request went

On his radio show “Rock 50,” drummer Bill Ward took a moment to talk about Nick Menza, the drummer from Megadeth , who passed away on the 21st . Check out his statement:

"Unfortunately, once again, we have lost another drummer. His name was Nick Menza, best known for playing in Megadeth. Nick was born on July 23, 1964, in Munich and sadly passed away on May 21, at the age of 51. As far as I know, I believe he died on stage. He had a heart attack while playing with his band OHM in Los Angeles.".

Playing, and on stage. That's a good way to die. To be honest, I think it is. It shows what we do. We go, and we play, and that's what we do. I don't want to mention names, but I know other guys who were also well-known and died on the road, doing what they did, and it's what they loved to do.

I was looking at Nick's influences. I always like to do that. It gives you an idea of the substance a person had. And some of the people he listened to, his influences, were Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, Nick Ceroli, Jeff Porcaro, and Louie Bellson. And… Well, all I can say is ditto, ditto, ditto. All those guys were great drummers, incredible. Influential, not only in swing and jazz but also in rock. There are great musicians in rock. And they have that unique thing: they have heart and soul. And I'm sure Nick Menza had that too.”
