Bill Ward regrets sacrificing himself to help Black Sabbath on 'Heaven and Hell'

The drummer spoke about the band's financial difficulties – and how they solved the problem.

Bill Ward , former drummer of Black Sabbath , spoke about a regret from the period of the album Heaven and Hell (1980), the band's first with Ronnie James Dio as vocalist.

In an interview with Metal Hammer , the musician commented on a necessary sacrifice for the project's completion. "One of my biggest regrets was selling a beautiful house because we needed to raise money to pay for the Heaven and Hell album. Getting a big house and a farm after growing up in Aston [London] seemed like a very important thing," he said.

Despite the personal significance of acquiring the house at the time, Ward didn't hesitate to sell the property. "The band came before anything else, and we needed the money back then to move forward," the drummer explained.
