Biff Byford's solo album does not yet have a release date
In an interview with Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon, Biff Byford, vocalist of Saxon, spoke about his solo album and the difference in sound between this work and what he does with Saxon: “I think it will probably be a bit more Rock N' Roll, a bit more classic Rock. I mean, I have seven songs ready and it's quite mixed, actually. But I'll have to wait and see .” Byford added that he doesn't compose music with a specific direction in mind. “The way I compose is that I write song by song – I don't write albums, per se. People ask: 'What's the concept behind the album?' I say: 'There is no concept',” he explained. “The concept is to write as many great songs as possible and see if the fans like them.”
“I’m composing on the road. I’m writing some things with Nibbs [Carter, Saxon bassist], and a little bit of stuff on my own. We [Saxon] will finish [a tour] in the United States in May. I think we only have two weeks off, and then we start another one. So, I’m going to try to get some time. It’s the songwriting that takes time, not the recording. You can record things very quickly.”.
Biff went on to say that his solo album will likely feature several guest musicians. “I’m going to invite a lot of people ,” he said. “It’s not easy for guitarists to work with you because they just play their signature solo. Singers, I could do some duets. We’ll see. I want to start with the songs written first, and then see who wants to work on them. I’ll probably have a core of a drummer and a bassist, although I might play bass myself.”
Saxon will be performing in Brazil in May, in a single show in São Paulo.
