Throughout recent history, numerous prominent rock and metal artists and bands have spoken out against authoritarian governments or forces that supported racism, massacres, oppression, and other forms of violence.

Whether through statements made by big names in Brazilian metal like Max Cavalera,  Andreas Kisser , Fernanda Lira , or João Gordo , or through the release of great songs, rock has always been a source of resistance and revolution throughout the world.

Due to the terrible situation in some countries (such as Afghanistan, for example) where governments seize power unilaterally, disregarding national institutions, we have compiled a list today, September 7th, of songs against various types of violence.

We included in our list legendary tracks against authoritarianism such as "Refuse/Resist" by Sepultura ; songs against the massacres of native peoples such as in "Run To The Hills" by Iron Maiden or "Beds Are Burning" by Midnight Oil .

We have anthems against racism, such as "Killing In The Name" by Rage Against The Machine ; or against the massacre of the Armenian people, as System of a Down .

And songs that are simply against the idiocy of some governments, like in Green Day .

They all demand resistance, like Queensrÿche , Pantera , Korzus , Accept , and even the Beatles !

Check out our Top 11 and leave comments on our social media with other songs that should be on this list:
