A new chapter unfolds in the feud between Nergal , frontman of Behemoth , and accusations of "publicly insulting the object of Christian worship in the form of the Mother of God" by posting an image in 2019 of himself stepping on an image of the Virgin Mary .
According to Notes From Poland , the artist was convicted of "offending religious sentiments" and will have to pay a fine of 3,000 euros (approximately 19,000 reais), in addition to the costs of the trial, which will amount to 678 euros (approximately 4,000 reais).
Nergal contested the conviction, and the case is now expected to proceed to a full trial. If found guilty, the artist could face up to two years in prison.
