In 2019, Led Zeppelin announced that a documentary was being made to commemorate the band's 50th anniversary. Directed by Bernard MacMahon , the film Becoming Led Zeppelin has now been officially completed. The work marks the first time the band has participated in a documentary about its history.
According to NME , the announcement made this Monday, the 2nd, confirmed the documentary's name and its completion. In a statement, the director said: “ Becoming Led Zeppelin is a film that nobody thought could be made. The band's meteoric rise to stardom was subtle and virtually undocumented.”
“After an intense search around the world and years of restoring the audio and video files that were found, this story can finally be told,” MacMahon concluded.
An official release date has not yet been announced, but the documentary promises to feature never-before-seen interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant , and John Paul Jones , as well as archival interviews with John Bonham , who died in 1980.
