Beatles members worked together on the song "Rip Off" from Mantra Of The Cosmos .
The band is by Zak Starkey , son of drummer Ringo Starr , who invited Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney to collaborate. Starkey formed the supergroup in 2023 , alongside Andy Bell, former bassist of Oasis, and Shaun Ryder and Mark “Bez” Berry, members of Happy Mondays.
The announcement was made via an Instagram post by Starkey. The video shows the Beatles' three children alongside other members of Mantra of the Cosmos, as well as the Beatles themselves.
Despite the inevitable comparison to his parents, in a recent interview with The Telegraph , Starkey dismissed any comparison to the Beatles: “No, it’s not [like a Beatles song],” he said. “It’s like Mantra of the Cosmos with them. It’s Sean of the Cosmos and James of the Cosmos, it’s still my band.” Regarding the absence of Dhani Harrison George Harrison ’s son , Starkey simply said: “No, I didn’t need to [include him]. Why would I need to?”
However, this is the second time that young Sean Ono and James, sons of the legendary songwriting duo
John Lennon and Paul McCartney, have worked together; in April 2024, they wrote and released "Primrose Hill" .
