Two letters that foreshadowed the breakup of the Beatles are now for sale.

The two letters, from January and April 1969, were sent to John Eastman and Lee Eastman . They were the father and brother of Linda Eastman , who would marry Paul McCartney in March 1969.

The January letter is being valued at US$225,000 and the April letter at US$325,000.

The first is signed by the four Beatles and Apple Corps . It is addressed to John Eastman, who was "authorized to act on behalf of the band with regard to contracts."

However, three months later, John Lennon , George Harrison , and Ringo Starr sent another letter. The three signed with the Rolling Stones , while McCartney stayed with his father-in-law and brother-in-law.

“This is to inform you that you are not authorized to act as an attorney or representative for the Beatles,” the April letter states. “We acknowledge that you are authorized to work with Paul McCartney personally. We will instruct our representatives to give you their full cooperation.”

This letter was auctioned off in 2005, selling to a collector for US$63,000.
