The copy was owned by John Lennon

A rare copy of the Beatles' album Yesterday and Today will go up for auction in November.

The record belonged to musician John Lennon and features the album's original cover: the four of them dressed as butchers alongside mutilated plastic dolls.

The cover of Yesterday and Today underwent changes after all unsold copies were destroyed. Only a few were spared, such as John Lennon's copy.

The musician gave the record to collector Dave Morrell in 1972 along with a handwritten message: " For Dave, John Lennon".

The copy will be put up for auction with a minimum bid of $200,000, approximately R$ 650,000.

Gary Shrum, director of Heritage Auctions , told a British newspaper that the item is rare because the Fab Four butchers' cover was pulled from shelves the day after its release.

"It's also a copy of John Lennon himself. So it's a wonderful piece for any Beatles collector."
