Shane Bisnett of Ice Nine Kills

Former Ice Nine Kills bassist Shane Bisnett dies.

Ice Nine Kills vocalist Spencer Charnas released a statement on Instagram

Shane Bisnett , former bassist for the metalcore band Ice Nine Kills , died at age 31 on New Year's Day.

He was a member of the band from 2009 to 2011 and participated in the album Safe Is Just a Shadow , released in 2010.

Vocalist Spencer Charnas paid tribute to his bandmate on Instagram, sharing a video with the following message:

I am incredibly saddened to hear that my old friend Shane Bisnett passed away on New Year's Day. Shane was an immensely charitable and talented musician who had a powerful and beautiful voice. Besides playing on Ice Nine Kills tours for years, Shane wrote much of the melodic elements of Safe Is Just A Shadow . I will always remember the cold nights in New York in 2009, writing songs and searching for the 'perfect chorus'. Shane presented himself as a tough-looking guy. But as soon as you talked to him, you would realize what a kind and loving person he was… and that smile! He was the kind of guy who would always be there for you.

This video of us playing was probably filmed in 2010. It breaks my heart that I can no longer play with him, but I am very grateful to have known him. My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP my friend.”
