In October 2021, Ratos de Porão celebrated their 40th anniversary while recording a new album, their first since 2014. In the meantime, the group witnessed Brazil undergo a process of political and social degradation unlike anything seen in decades.
The result of all this was Necropolitics , a concept album about the Bolsonaro era and the rise of the far right in the country. The musical part, in turn, revisits the band's crossover period in the late 1980s, a time equally marked by crisis and disillusionment.
This period refers to the crossover trilogy, Cada Dia Mais Sujo e Agressivo (1987), Brasil (1989) and Anarkophobia (1990). It was when Ratos de Porão experienced their most intense phase of activity and developed the magic formula mixing thrash metal precision, hardcore delivery and lyrics depicting the national reality.
The album was produced by the band themselves at Family Mob studio in São Paulo during October 2021. Mixing was done in January 2022 by Fernando Sanches at El Rocha studio.
Necropolitics will be released in Brazil on CD by the Shinigami label and on vinyl by Fuzz On Discos , with pre-orders starting this Friday, the 13th, and delivery from July 29th. The vinyl will also be released in Europe, Japan, and the USA, in addition to CD and vinyl in Italy and Argentina. There are three vinyl color options: red (500 copies), smoky transparent (400 copies), and splatter (100 copies).
