Barrie Masters , frontman of Eddie and the Hot Rods , has passed away at the age of 63. The news was announced on the band's official Facebook page.

In the statement, the band did not reveal the cause of death, but reassured fans that they would update them with news soon. "The sudden news was a great shock to the group and the family," it read.

Eddie and the Hot Rods was formed in 1975 in Essex and is considered one of the pioneers of punk in the United Kingdom. The band achieved great success two years later with the release of the hit “Do Anything You Wanna Do”, which debuted at number nine on the British charts.

The group was also responsible for discovering the Sex Pistols , who performed for the first time at a Rods show at the Marquee Club in London.
