Monochromatic backdrops, an otherworldly voice, and dark post-rock are some of the elements that make the Parisian band Bank Myna an otherworldly and hypnotic sonic experience.
Formed in 2013, the band classifies their musical genre as "black post-rock and cathartic drone," but labels say little or fail to convey the profusion of sensations and sounds in the music of the French trio, part of Wikimetal on Groover .
Each track on Band Myna's debut album, VOLAVERUNT , released on February 25th, is a surprising and profound journey, with diverse layers of complexity, featuring deep and emotionally resonant soundtracks that evoke images of dreams and nightmares with equal ease and fascination.
“The Sleep of Reason” is a particularly inviting track for fans of rock and melodic metal: the music begins in a desert-like, almost desolate soundscape, were it not for the power of the clean female vocals guiding the mind, but it progresses with urgency and psychedelia, creating a stormy atmosphere that seems to encompass the world.
Among the band's main influences are the Canadian group Godspeed You! Black Emperor and the Swedish artist Anna Von Hausswolf – and although they don't have the heavy sound and riffs of Black Sabbath , the band creates almost forbidden tracks, playing with people's emotions and feelings, like in a true sonic film.
