Formed in 2020 in São Paulo, the band Ballburya , which currently consists of Catharina Moraz (vocals), Luiz “Mike” Santana and Bélity Milanesi (guitars), Ruan Ceza r (drums) and Gabriel Carvalho (bass), released their first song “Red Gemstone” in 2021, followed by “Severance” and “The Flood Of Wonderland” in the same year.
On March 8, 2024, the band released their debut album, the powerful Ataxia , featuring 10 tracks, the singles of which were the songs "Beholder's Land," "Golden Mother," and "Grass Memories," all three released in 2023.
After lineup changes and numerous shows in São Paulo, the group's debut album presents a very cohesive and original fusion of metalcore, nu metal, hardcore, and emo, avoiding the clichés commonly attributed to the style and blending the diverse influences of each member into a unique and precise sound, creating an exclusive identity for the group.
Tracks like “Ripped-Off Souls” and “Coin Collectors” exemplify how this fusion creates a unique sonic mass, blending Mike and Bélity's furious guitars with Catharina's melodic and powerful vocals in a contrast of rage and passion.
The bass/drum section of Ruan and Gabriel is largely responsible for the heavy and consistent foundation that guides you throughout the entire album, where the drums seem to playfully interact with the tempo of the songs (in the best possible way) in a display of technique and beauty, varying from fast and heavy moments to more melodic and introspective ones, as in the beautiful ballad "Grass Memories".
The album shows what it's capable of, with a strong debut that leaves us eager for future releases. For those who enjoy a lot of melancholy and introspection combined with a lot of heaviness and anger, this is the album.
