Bad Religion has released a new version of their 1990 song "Faith Alone." According to the band, the new version reflects current times and serves as a "symphonic appeal to reason."
This version presents a more stripped-down side with a piano base, transforming the punk song into a ballad. “Faith Alone 2020,” as the band titled it, highlights the voice of Greg Graffin who, in a press release, stated that most of his songs are originally composed on the piano.
Speaking about the importance of the song and the reason for re-recording it, guitarist Brett Gurewitz said: “I think the message of 'Faith Alone' speaks very much to everything that's been happening lately. Racial injustice, Trump, the Covid pandemic, the rejection of science, none of this can be solved if we do nothing. We've always believed that problems can only be solved through reason and action, not just with hope and prayers. We've been writing about this since the band started.”
“Faith Alone 2020” can be heard below. It's worth remembering that the band will release an autobiography on August 18th titled Do What You Want , which is already available for pre-order on Amazon.
