Axl Rose paid his last respects to Lisa Marie Presley Elvis Presley 's only daughter , who passed away last Thursday, the 12th, at the age of 54, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

In an People magazine Guns N' Roses frontman shared details of his friendship with Lisa, especially after the death of her son, Benjamin Keough , who died by suicide in 2020. According to Rose, he tried to offer Lisa as much support as possible, always reminding her that she could count on his support and trying to cheer her up by sharing jokes, news, and animal videos.

“I will miss my friend Lisa,” Axl wrote. “Her death, as well as that of her son and – when I was a child – that of her father, doesn’t seem real. Lisa loved her family, all her children. My heart is with them.”

“Her son’s death was shocking, tragic, and devastating. It was something that, to a certain extent, you obviously don’t want to bring up, but you strangely end up bringing it up in an effort to let her know that you care and that you’re thinking of her, of all of them, and to be of some comfort, which she appreciated,” he continues. “I wanted her to be happy, to feel good about things – or at least as good as possible given the circumstances.”

Axl Rose also said he had heard firsthand stories about Elvis, Lisa's father, told by Lisa herself when she visited him backstage during shows. He also recalled that Lisa was very happy with Elvis Baz Luhrmann 's film about her father, and the way he and actor Austin Butler portrayed him on the big screen.

“Nobody knows what happens after life, but I like to think that they are together – she and Ben with her father and Ben’s grandfather – somehow, and that the most important men in her life are happily together,” Axl states.

Lisa Presley attended the Golden Globes just two days before her death, where she saw the film Elvis win the award for Best Actor in a Drama Film for Austin Butler's performance, a role Lisa herself praised in her last interviews, given on the day of the event.
