Angus Young and Axl Rose give an interview to the BBC.
Guns N' Roses frontman and current AC/DC Axl Rose spoke about how his collaboration with the Australian band came about. According to Rose, he called the band as soon as he heard the news about Brian Johnson's risk of hearing loss. Read his statements:
“I called the day I read the news that there was a problem with Brian. I called the guy who's their production manager… because I knew there would be problems with already sold dates, and things like that. So if I could help, if I was able, and if they were interested, I would love to help. And that's how it started.”
7,000 fans request refunds for AC/DC concerts.
I wasn't thinking, 'I'm going to sing with AC/DC.' I was thinking, 'You know, if I can do it and if they think I can do it.' A lot of 'Back In Black' is very challenging. I'm not here to disrespect Brian (...) He's a great singer and his job is very challenging. I'm just trying to do justice to the fans.
I'm happy and excited in a sense, but I don't think it's appropriate to celebrate, in a way, at someone else's expense. That's not why I'm here. It's an unfortunate situation.
Angus Young, who also gave an interview to the BBC, spoke about Johnson's departure : “He wanted to finish the tour, but because of his hearing problems he had to make a decision. It's a difficult thing to do and he was already having problems when we started the tour. The decision was entirely his. It was a shock to us too.”
