Avenged Sevenfold's vocalist wants metal to be taken seriously in modern culture

M. Shadows spoke in an interview with Kerrang!

M. Shadows , vocalist of Avenged Sevenfold , spoke in an interview with Kerrang! about the current situation of rock and metal, which has low numbers on streaming platforms compared to other styles, such as hip hop.

"I want rock to have a voice. I want metal to be taken seriously in modern culture, and to do that you have to show the world that there are rock and metal bands that can make a significant difference.".

In November, Avenged Sevenfold's album The Stage will celebrate its second anniversary, and it was the band's lowest-selling album in 11 years, selling less than half of what their two previous albums, Nightmare from 2010 and Hail To The King from 2013, sold in its first week.

The Stage was a surprise release, with almost no advance promotion, except for a single released a week prior.

Avenged Sevenfold refused to attend this year's Grammy Awards ceremony in protest against how the organization treats rock and metal. The band was nominated in the Best Rock Song category for their song "The Stage.".

The band recently released the song “Mad Hatter”. Listen here .
