"I wish they had more respect for the genre."
Avenged Sevenfold received their first Grammy Award nomination for their song "The Stage," and they are very proud of it.
In an interview with Billboard, vocalist M. Shadows said he was happy they were nominated in the Rock category instead of Metal.
“If you’re nominated in a Metal category, they don’t show you on TV, and that doesn’t help the community. I wish they [the Grammy organization] had more respect for the genre. So I’m really happy that we were nominated in the Rock category ,” he explains.
The vocalist also says he is "excited and honored" to be competing for the award alongside big names in music like Metallica and Foo Fighters.
“We’re happy just to hear our name alongside theirs. It’s the adults’ club, so it’s amazing to be noticed by them.”
Currently, the band is taking a few months off and according to M. Shadows, "We're going to rest and then start writing again."
