The successor to 2016's The Stage Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows recently shared that the band's new album is "70% ready."

“We’re working on a few things,” the vocalist told Minnesota 93X Andy [ Wallace , sound engineer] doesn’t want to travel, or his manager doesn’t want him to travel because of the pandemic. So, there are a lot of things going on.”

“It doesn’t make sense for us to release an album right now and not be able to tour. The world has changed. Releasing an album on Spotify without touring, for a rock band, simply doesn’t make sense for us. So, we’ll wait until everything is back to normal, then finish it and release it. And everything will be fine,” he adds.
