In this week's Wikimetal poll, Avenged Sevenfold was voted the best band of the new generation, with 45% of the votes. Ghost came in second and third place with 34%, and Trivium with 12%.
The Californian band was formed in 1999 and has released six studio albums. Their latest, "Hail To The King," was released in August of this year. In total, Avenged Sevenfold has sold approximately 8 million albums worldwide.

The band's first CD, "Sounding The Seventh Trumpet," released in 2001, was recorded when the band members were in high school. Since then, Avenged Sevenfold has changed its lineup several times – the original drummer, James "The Rev" Sullivan, passed away in 2009 from an overdose.
Today, the band's lineup consists of M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, Synyster Gates, Johnny Christ, and Arin Ilejay.
