Avenged Sevenfold is one of the confirmed acts for Rock in Rio 2024. In addition to the Brazilian festival, they have performances scheduled for the coming months at events such as Rock am Ring in Germany and Hellfest in France. It's common for festivals like these to stream live performances, but this may not be the case for the band led by M. Shadows .

According to a post by the Avenged Sevenfold Legendado on Discord, the vocalist revealed that the band has been avoiding, as much as possible, allowing festivals to broadcast their performances.

“The reason we’re trying to prevent festivals from broadcasting our shows is because almost all bands use pre-recorded tracks (to reproduce instruments or vocals), except for a few. And when you finally hear a band playing and singing for real, everyone wonders, ‘Why does it sound so bad?’”, wrote M. Shadows.

He pointed out the possibility of Avenged Sevenfold being unfairly compared to bands that use pre-recorded tracks.

“Imagine three bands performing, everything is on pre-recorded tracks, and everyone in the comments is talking about how amazing it sounds. They're literally delivering a pre-mix for the broadcast. And then, one band performs live, and the mix is messed up because the guy doesn't know their songs or doesn't know what's being played. Add to that the fact that they're actually running around the stage singing and playing, and it has the potential (not always) to be less than ideal.”

He concludes: “Why put ourselves in this situation? All of this is just to generate extra revenue for the festival anyway. It doesn't make sense in my opinion.”

Avenged Sevenfold at Rock in Rio

It's impossible to be certain whether or not Avenged Sevenfold's performance at Rock in Rio 2024 will be broadcast. However, at least we have confirmation that the band will be returning to Brazilian soil after a decade.

The main attraction of "Rock Day," the group shares September 15th with big names in rock'n'roll, such as Evanescence , Journey , Deep Purple , and Incubus .
