The musician was from Bad Religion
Avenged Sevenfold announced today on their official website the identity of their new drummer. The new musician is Brooks Wackerman, who has previously worked with Bad Religion and Infectious Grooves.
In an interview on the American podcast Talk Is Jericho, the leader of the band M. Shadows stated:
“Brooks’ name was always in mind. He was one of the names we mentioned when Jimmy passed away, to work on “Nightmare”. We felt that Mike (Portnoy) was the right choice at that time and we still think so. Mike killed it on the album. He was perfect. At the time our tour manager also mentioned Brooks, but he was super busy with Bad Religion… People would look at him differently because he was a punk drummer at the time.”.
Wackerman left Bad Religion at the end of October, arguing that it was time to pursue a new path. The drummer replaces Arin Ilejay, who announced his departure from Avenged Sevenfold in July.
