Synyster Gates and Brooks Wackerman of Avenged Sevenfold

Avenged Sevenfold analyzes The Rev's work on "Beast and the Harlot"; watch it here.

The classic song was recorded for the album City of Evil (2005), four years before the drummer's death.

Avenged Sevenfold has been going through their entire discography and analyzing some tracks in a YouTube series called Breakdown.

In the latest video, guitarist Synyster Gates and drummer Brooks Wackerman analyze the techniques and inspirations of The Rev – who passed away in December 2009 – in “Beast and the Harlot,” from the album City of Evil (2005).

The duo comments on the variety of ideas that The Rev carried within him, as well as his broad musical influences that included hip hop and pop, in addition to heavy metal, which, in their opinion, helped the drummer to stand out.
