The Swedish band Avatar recently debuted in Brazil as the opening act for Iron Maiden , but the dream of performing in our country was an old one, especially for bassist Henrik Sandelin , who is so passionate about it that he even has a map of the country tattooed on his arm. But where did this connection come from?

In an interview with Wikimetal , vocalist Johannes Eckerström told us how Henrik became so fascinated by our country and ended up creating a desire to play here in all his bandmates. At 13 years old, the bassist had other priorities and did an exchange program in Brazil.

The relationship with the Brazilian family that hosted him during that period didn't end after the exchange program, and Henrik chose Brazil as his honeymoon destination after getting married, even getting a map of the country tattooed on his arm after the experience. "He kept in touch with that family, who became friends with his whole family too; they went to his wedding, everything. I think this is his sixth time in Brazil," Johannes said.

The exchange took place in Campinas and sparked in the bassist a passion for the Ponte Preta team, which Avatar personally supported during their time in the country. “I talk about Ponte Preta everywhere. It’s an honor to be here for the first time in my life,” Henrik said in an interview with Globo .

In the same conversation with Wikimetal , the Avatar frontman told us about being passionate about Crypta and what to expect from the new album , as well as explaining the origin and meaning of the band's name .
